DO YOU NEED A BUSINESS LICENSE?

 Every person or entity conducting business in the state of Nevada is required to obtain a business license. However, you may be eligible for an exemption. 


  • Home-based businesses operated by individuals that don’t exceed a certain income threshold
  • Governmental entities
  • Non profit charitable organizations
  • Non profit religious organizations
  • Non Profit fraternal organizations
  • Individual landlords who rent four or fewer dwellings
  • If you believe your business is exempt, you will still need to file business licensing paperwork stating your exemption.


What Type of Business License do I need?

Every new business is required to check with the State Department of Taxation to determine whether you will need a resale permit, an exemption certificate, or are subject to use tax.

When Do You Need a Business License in Nevada?

 

As soon as you begin conducting business in the state of Nevada you are required to obtain a business license. Some business types that are required to have a business license are:
