 Every person or entity conducting business in the state of Nevada is required to obtain a business license. However, you may be eligible for an exemption. 

• Home-based businesses operated by individuals that don’t exceed a certain income threshold
• Governmental entities
• Non profit charitable organizations
• Non profit religious organizations
• Non Profit fraternal organizations
• Individual landlords who rent four or fewer dwellings
• If you believe your business is exempt, you will still need to file business licensing paperwork stating your exemption.

Every new business is required to check with the State Department of Taxation to determine whether you will need a resale permit, an exemption certificate, or are subject to use tax.

As soon as you begin conducting business in the state of Nevada you are required to obtain a business license. Some business types that are required to have a business license are:

In Nevada, a DBA, also known as 'Doing Business As' or a Fictitious Firm Name, is the official registration of a business name. If you intend to operate under a name different from your legal name, you are required to file a DBA with the County Clerk's office to legally identify the business owner(s). This is a mandatory requirement for all types of businesses.
